Inaugural gala pushes MRI Campaign past $500,000 mark
YARMOUTH (May 26, 2005) – The Yarmouth Hospital Foundation MRI campaign has surpassed the $500,000 mark thanks in part to the success of its inaugural Spring Gala.
“From the launch beginning with $250,000 from the Women’s Auxiliary (of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital) to this month’s inaugural Spring Gala raising $28,000,” said foundation chairman David Arenburg, “we have now passed the $500,000 mark on our goal to raise $750,000.”
Organizers were pleasantly surprised when the final tally for the gala came in at just over $28,000.
“The work of our sponsors and volunteers ensured the gala was a resounding success,”
Mr. Arenburg said. “The depth of support for the MRI campaign and its fundraising events is overwhelming.”
The next big fundraising event for the MRI campaign will be Jody Shelley’s Golf Fore Health inaugural charity golf tournament on Friday, July 8 at the West Pubnico Golf and Country Club.
“We are extremely pleased to report that we are partnering this tournament with Jody Shelley, star forward of the National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets,” said Tournament Chairman Dr. Alderic Legere. “Jody played his minor hockey in Yarmouth and completed his junior hockey as captain of the Halifax Mooseheads.”
The rugged NHL forward believes in the cause and is pleased to be coming back to Yarmouth to support it.
“The Golf Fore Health event in support of the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation is a great opportunity to give back to the community, not only for me but everyone involved,” Jody Shelley said. “Any time you’re in a position to help your community it’s exciting. I am really looking forward to being back in Yarmouth County and being involved with this great event.”
The July 8 tournament has a strong start thanks to Tri-Star Industries that has agreed to be presenting sponsor. It will be a 132-player shotgun team scramble format. |
